Trail Routes and Lone Pine Trail Map

White Memorial Loop
This simple loop, also known as the Overlook trail, is our most scenic trail with sweeping views from Whitefish Resort to Flathead Lake. This trail is handicap accessible and is a short 0.3 miles.

Lone Pine Trail
Lone Pine Trail is our most used trail that starts at the base of the park and rises roughly 600ft in elevation to the picnic shelter. This trail is our longest at 1.4 miles and is signified by a red marker. The trail can be reached by either parking at the picnic shelter or at Lone Pine Trailhead located off of Valley View Dr.

Western Larch Trail
Western Larch Trail begins near the top of Lone Pine Trail and ends near the base on Lone Pine Trail. The trail is designed more for mountain biking with more switchbacks involving banked berms but could make for a great trail run. The trail is 0.8 miles long and is one of the few trails on the north-facing slope of the park.

Cliff Trail
The Cliff Trail begins underneath the bridge near the visitor center and winds its way down to the Lone Pine Trailhead at the base of the park. The trail is 0.8 miles and is a bit more steep than the Lone Pine Trail. This trail can be misleading because it passes many others. As long as you follow the green triangle marker, you're still on the Cliff Trail.

Valley View Trail
Valley View Trail begins at the Valley View Trailhead located at the base of the park off of Trillium Way. This trail is a half mile and ends on the Cliff Trail. It meanders around the base of the park and has a few incline sections, but is generally pretty flat.

Raptor's Rest Trail
Raptor's Rest Trail is our most difficult hike beginning at the Valley View Trailhead then ascends nearly a mile up to the Cliff Trail below the overlook. This trail has rewarding views of Flathead Valley and passes through a variety of ecosystems. This trail can also be confusing as it passes 3 connector trails and Barely There Trail. Just follow the orange square and you will remain on the right trail.

Bearly There Trail
This trail explores the easternmost side of the park donated by the Van Riper family for Lone Pine State Park. This area is quite different from the north side of the park in that it contains more habitats suitable for a variety of plants and animals. This trail is 0.8 miles long and begins and ends on the cliff trail. The easiest way to reach it is by going the Cliff Trail then making a right at the Barely There sign.
